A VISUAL DIARY

Mtb Road Trip – Bend, Oregon

So after the first two days in Hood River, it was time to hit the road and head south to Bend. Along the way we stopped off at Smith Rocks to stretch out our legs and check out the rock climbers.

The following day we hit up the local trails just outside of town. It was an impressive network of trails but none of it was technical. Perfect terrain for a singlespeed hardtail 29er – smooth, dry and dusty. Our arsenal of bikes was overkill for this day. Dean said it best in describing our bikes, “it’s like bringing a Howitzer to a knife fight.”

We ended the day with a campfire cooked gourmet dinner and plenty of beers and wine. The following day we had a shuttle booked to ride the Mckenzie River Trail, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip.
